Who we are

Music Library Tools LTD ("we", "us", "our") operates the IntroEdits website and the IntroEdits desktop application. We are the data controller for the personal information described on this page.

This notice explains what we collect, why, and what you can do about it. It applies to the website, the application, and any emails we send you about them.

Your music stays yours

This is the part most people want answered first, so it comes first.

Your audio files are never uploaded to us. IntroEdits reads the tracks you point it at on your own computer, separates the stems on your own computer, and writes the finished edit back to your own drive. The analysis, the separation and the rendering all happen locally. We never receive a copy of a track, a stem, or an edit.

Your DJ library is never uploaded either. The app reads your Serato, Rekordbox or VirtualDJ library so it can show you your crates. It only ever reads them, it never writes to them, and the crate names, track lists and file paths it reads stay on your machine.

The only thing that leaves your computer is your account: who you are, whether you are on Pro, and a count of the edits you have saved. See below.

What we collect

Your account. Your email address, a securely hashed password, and the DJ name you choose when you sign up. The DJ name is also written into the edits you make — into the filename and the title tag — so it appears on your own files.
Your edit count. Because a free account can save three finished edits a month, we have to count them. We record that an edit was saved, when, and the title you saved it under. We do not record the audio, the source file, or where on your computer it came from. A count that the app worked out for itself would be a count the app could be persuaded to get wrong, so it is worked out by our database instead.
Your subscription status. Whether you are on IntroEdits Pro and when it renews.
Payments. If you subscribe, Stripe handles your card details directly. We never see or store your card number. We keep a record of what you bought and when.
Basic app diagnostics. When you last signed in, and which version of the app you are running, so we can support you when something goes wrong.
Website analytics. Pages visited, approximate location from your IP address, device and browser — only if you have accepted analytics. See the cookies section.
How you found us. If you arrive through one of our own tracked links or adverts, we record which link it was, so we can tell which of our marketing is worth continuing. This is tied to your visit to our site, not to your browsing anywhere else.

Why we use it, and on what basis

To give you the product you asked for. Creating your account, signing you in, applying the free allowance or your Pro subscription, taking payment and providing support. Our basis is performance of a contract with you.

To keep the product working and fair. Diagnosing faults, preventing abuse, and enforcing the free monthly allowance. Our basis is our legitimate interest in running the product and in the free tier meaning the same thing for everyone.

To meet our legal obligations, such as keeping records of sales for tax purposes.

Marketing emails

If you sign up for IntroEdits, we may send you emails about IntroEdits and our other DJ software. We tell you this at the point we ask for your address, and every marketing email has a one-click unsubscribe link. Our basis is the soft opt-in permitted under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations, or your consent where you have given it.

Unsubscribing from marketing does not stop the emails we have to send you about your account, your subscription, or a password reset.

We do not sell your email address, and we do not share it with anyone for their own marketing.

We use a small number of service providers who process personal information on our behalf, under contract and only on our instructions:

Supabase — stores your account, your DJ name, your subscription status and your edit count.
Stripe — takes payments and handles your card details directly.
DigitalOcean — hosts this website.
Google — Analytics, Tag Manager, Search Console and Ads, where you have accepted the relevant category.
Meta — advertising measurement, where you have accepted advertising cookies.
Click — our own link and visit tracker, self-hosted by us, not a third party.

Some of these providers are based outside the UK. Where information is transferred outside the UK, it is protected by the safeguards required under UK data protection law, such as the International Data Transfer Agreement or an adequacy decision.

We may also disclose information where we are legally required to, or to establish or defend legal claims.

Cookies and this website

Necessary technologies always run: one local-storage entry remembering your light or dark theme, and one remembering the cookie choice you made, so we stop asking. Neither is sent to us.

Everything else runs only if you allow it. Analytics and advertising tags are held inert in the page and are not loaded at all until you grant the category they belong to. You can change your choice at any time from the cookie settings link in the footer.

With analytics allowed, we use Google Analytics to measure how the site is used, and our own self-hosted Click tracker to record page views against a first-party visitor id — so several page views can be recognised as one visit. If you arrived through one of our tracked links, we also keep that link's id, which tells us which post or video is worth continuing. It identifies the link, not you.

With advertising allowed, we measure whether an advert led to a download. Full detail of every technology, with what each one does, is in our cookies policy.

How long we keep it

We keep your account for as long as it is active. If you ask us to delete it, we will, other than records we are required to keep — sales records are kept for six years for tax purposes.

Edit records are kept while your account exists, because they are what the monthly allowance is counted from and the only record of what the app has made for you.

If you unsubscribe from marketing, we keep a record of that so we do not email you again by mistake.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected if it is wrong, to have it deleted, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to receive it in a portable format. Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time.

To exercise any of these, email us at the address below. We will respond within one month. We will not charge you, and we will not treat you differently for asking.

Deleting your account removes your email, DJ name and edit records. The edits themselves are unaffected, because they are files on your own drive and we never had them.
